Tony Cottee has told Sky Sports News, which was broadcast on 26th September, that things could yet get worse for West Ham United.
The Hammers have won just one of their first six matches in the Premier League, and currently sit in 18th place.
West Ham’s start has been a huge disappointment, especially as they appeared to have plenty of momentum going into the new campaign.
However, Cottee has suggested that things could get even worse - after West Ham were beaten 3-0 by Southampton in front of their own fans last weekend.
“It can get worse. We haven’t got long enough to discuss everything that’s wrong at West Ham at the minute, it’s pretty much a full house,” Cottee said.
“I do feel a little bit sorry for Slaven Bilic. There comes a time when players have to stand up and be counted. Some of the defending yesterday was shocking.”
Southampton’s 3-0 victory against West Ham was thoroughly deserved, and it has left more questions being asked of Bilic’s men.
The Hammers are playing well below expectations, and Cottee has questioned his former side’s recruitment in the summer transfer window.
