Conte, Mourinho, Guardiola Up For Premier League Manager Award

One of the hallmarks of the 2016/17 Premier League campaign is the confluence of some of the games’ ‘Super coaches’, and three of those – Antonio Conte, Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola – have been shortlisted for the best manager award in August.

Conte has only been in charge of Chelsea for three Premier League games, but the former Italy coach has wasted no time in making his mark on the division.

Three wins out of three made it a perfect start for the Italian at Stamford Bridge, but he also shares the 100 per cent record with Manchester United manager Mourinho and Manchester City’s Guardiola.

Conte’s start marks a departure from last season’s shocking beginning, with nine defeats in the opening 16 league games which eventually cost Mourinho his job, but the Portuguese boss has made a much brighter beginning at Old Trafford.

His Red Devils have secured maximum points against Bournemouth, Hull and Southampton and sit third behind Chelsea on goals scored.

Guardiola is expected to take Manchester City to the next level after his huge success at both Barcelona and Bayern Munich, and the Catalan coach has made the perfect start to life at the Etihad with wins against Sunderland, Stoke and West Ham seeing City top of the table on goal difference.

Pep and his fierce rival Miurinho stand to lose their perfect record next weekend when United and City clash in the Manchester derby.
