    Tambuwal Reads Riot Act To Beggars In Sokoto

    Worried by the ever increasing influx of beggars in Sokoto, especially within the metropolis, Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal yestetday warned them to pick up a meaningful source of livelihood or face the wrath of the law.

    Tambuwal, who lamented that, aside denigrating the individuals involved in such act, the very few that are into begging ends up tarnishing the image of Islam.

    “The act of street begging is against the tenets of Islam as street begging denigrates not only the individual but also soil the image and integrity of Islam”.

    Tambuwal assured that his government was committed towards improving the lives of the governed just as he reiterated the need for urgent collaboration with Islamic scholars on what measures needed to be taken to stop street begging.

    Speaking during the inauguration of the state Zakkat and Endowment committee item distribution to the needy and physically challenged in the state, Tambuwal assured that the challenging economy will not stop them from helping the needy.
