FRANK DE BOER has confirmed he wants his Inter Milan side to sign Newcastle midfielder Moussa Sissoko.
Inter manager De Boer is keen to bring in new players after replacing Roberto Mancini earlier this summer.
Arsenal and Everton are both said to be keen on landing Sissoko - although neither appear willing to match Newcastle’s £35million valuation.
But De Boer is hopeful bosses at the San Siro can complete a deal as they also pursue Sporting’s Joao Mario.
"Looking at the calendar, we have some high-intensity games to play so we will have to evaluate both the team and the market too,” De Boer said.
“Joao Mario and Sissoko are certainly interesting names who could suit us.
“It is clear that we will have to wait and see what happens.
“I think that Joao Mario and (Inter’s Marcelo) Brozovic are both great players and it would be nice to have them both but we’ll see, at the moment I only want to focus on (Inter’s match with) Chievo.”
Sissoko is keen to leave Newcastle and is yet to play for the club this season.
He was left out of manager Rafa Benitez's XI to face Bristol City today.
Arsenal are said to be interested in landing the France international, although manager Arsene Wenger’s main focus is sourcing a centre-back before deadline day.
And Everton boss Ronald Koeman also appears ready to spend before the close of the transfer window, having recently added Crystal Palace’s Yannick Bolasie to his squad.
