Nasarawa State Commandant of NSCDC, Lawan Bashir Kano, who disclosed this while briefing newsmen in Lafia, said: “On Tuesday August 16, the command, through intelligence reports, was able to track down one Malam Shahidu Suleh, 45, for sexually assaulting a boy he brought from Kano for Islamic education. Through intelligence, we were able to trace and pick him with the boy whom he claimed he was educating on the Qur’an. The boy narrated that the man has been having anal sex with him and threatened to kill him if he exposed him.”
He said that though the man was still denying committing the offence, reports from medical test carried out on the boy showed that he was sexually assaulted.
Bashir Kano said that the command has concluded plans to transfer the case to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) in Makurdi.
He urged parents to be careful with the kind of people they entrust their children to for training.
The suspect, however, denied committing the crime, saying that he only beat the boy for not learning as expected.
