THE BOSS: Arsenal gaffer Arsene Wenger is hard at work preparing his team to face Watford
Arsenal are closing in on a £17m deal for Deportivo La Coruna hitman Lucas Perez.
But they almost missed out on the 27-year-old, having snubbed him just a month ago.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger allegedly reversed his decision having heeded the calls of fans to strengthen his squad.
The veteran Frenchman has so far welcomed four new faces to the Emirates this summer.
But he could be poised to secure two signings within 48 hours after news of an agreement for Shkodran Mustafi broke as well.
Meanwhile, Arsenal have been handed a boost in their reported pursuit of Manchester City's Jason Denayer.
The 21-year-old is apparently unhappy at the Etihad after Pep Guardiola failed to give him the first-team opportunities he was promised.
And that could see Wenger swoop, particularly after Belgian outlet DH revealed the centre-back has a release clause in his City contract.
Denayer is not the only option on the Gunners gaffer's wishlist, however.
Simon Kjaer, Omer Toprak and Jonny Evans are said to be under consideration as well.
Finally, Joel Campbell has confirmed he rejected Wenger's plea to stay in north London.
The 24-year-old linked up with Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon in a season-long loan switch last Sunday.
And he has admitted he chose to move on for the good of his career.
"The coach told me he would have liked me to stay, but playing is my priority and if I’m not 100% on his plans then I prefer to go on loan and play football," he told Costa Rican newspaper La Nacion.
"I’ll do my best effort to achieve good stats and grow during this season at Sporting."
