Since the emergence of Muhammadu Buhari as Nigeria’s president, coupled with the alleged uneven and sectional appointment of persons into public offices and also the anti-corruption fight perceived by many a sheer political vendetta, there has been an upsurge of protests and attacks on the government from all quarters; the worst coming from the Militant group, Niger Delta Avengers (NDA), who call themselves, freedom fighters.
This militant group came up swore not to spare the oil facilities in the South-South part of the country. And since then, the sabotage perpetrated by these faceless militants has crippled the Nigerian economy. As if this was not enough, many other militant groups sprang up from nowhere all claiming to be fighting for their people. Unfortunately, they seem to be causing more havoc than good to their own people!
Also, following the Federal Government’s proposed negotiation with the NDA, they had stated that the immediate halt of the on-going anti-corruption crusade of the president as one of their conditions for putting a stop to bombing of oil pipelines and other facilities in the South-South part of the country.
