Nigeria has dropped nine places to the 70th position in the latest Fifa Ranking in the world for July, released today, 14th July 2016.
The Super Eagles reached their best ranking for 2016 last month when they climbed to 61st, but have now dropped to a lowly 70th after a month of inactivity.
The three-time African champions now find themselves 16th in Africa while their Fifa 2018 World Cup Russia qualifying opponents, Algeria, are the highest ranked nation on the continent in 32nd position.
The other Group B sides in the World Cup qualification campaign – Cameroon and Zambia – are ranked 53rd and 88th respectively, while Ivory Coast, Ghana, Senegal and Egypt join Algeria as the top 5 sides on the continent.
Argentina remain the top-ranked side in the world despite another Copa America heartbreak, while Euro 2016 flops Belgium, Colombia, world champions Germany and Copa America holders Chile complete the top five. Reigning European champions Portugal climb two places to 6th.
The next ranking will be released August 4.
