However, Makarfi countered, saying it was Sheriff that created the Boko Haram which killed and maimed innocent people in the last six years.
Sheriff stated this yesterday, while inaugurating his factional committee for the conduct of gubernatorial primary election in Edo State.
He said that the former national secretary of the party, Professor Wale Oladipo and national auditor, Alhaji Adewole Adeyanju, narrowly escaped death from the hands of the alleged herdsmen.
The pro-Makarfi protesters, had a week ago, stormed the party’s national secretariat and declared that their principal remained the authentic party chairman.
Oladipo and Adeyanju, who are in Sheriff’s camp, narrowly escaped being lynched by the angry protesters.
”We thank God, the national secretary and the national auditor narrowly escaped,” Sheriff said.
On his part, Makarfi said, “He (Sheriff) is the one known to have created Boko Haram. Therefore, he is continuing in similar direction. I am never known to be associated with violence.”
While inaugurating the committee for the Edo primaries, at his residence in Maitama District, Abuja, Sheriff said it was in line with the guideline obtained from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Sheriff claimed that INEC did not send any observer to monitor the last Monday’s governorship primary held by the Makarfi-led caretaker committee in Edo Stare.
But the Chief Press Secretary to INEC Chairman, Rotimi Oyekanmi, said the Commission had monitored the primaries conducted by both the PDP and the APC.
